HISTORY AND VISION
Transforming the abandoned Camp Truitt 4-H site into a vibrant botanical garden offers an unparalleled opportunity to enrich the City of College Park with a multifunctional community space that combines natural beauty, education, and recreation.
This initiative breathes new life into 39 acres of underused land, preserving its historical significance while creating an inspiring destination for residents and visitors alike. The garden will also serve as a cultural and educational hub by remodeling two historic cabins into a Welcome Center and Library-Bookstore providing resources on local ecology, conservation, and history.
A newly graded staging area with seating, a waterfall, and landscaping will host community events and promote engagement. This transformation beautifies College Park and fosters sustainability and economic development, attracting visitors and instilling local pride for generations to come.
